Back to Cherry Hill

We decided to move Ethan back to Cherry Hill with the other kids next school year.  We went to a meeting this week to meet his teacher if he stayed at Foothill Elementary.  She seemed nice and I'm sure Ethan would do well.  I talked with the principal at Cherry Hill to see if we moved Ethan back if he could get Mrs. Hill.  Both Brandon and Daniela had Mrs. Hill and we really like her.  We made the decision to move him to Cherry Hill, even though this means pulling him out of the A.L.L. program.  Grant, Ethan, and I prayed about it and we all felt good about this decision.  Ethan is excited.  He still has friends at Cherry Hill that ask about him or stop me in the halls and tell me to tell Ethan hi for them.  I am excited as well because this means only two trips to the school next year.  This year I have been making five trips every day.

Double Overtime

Brandon's basketball team played their final playoff game tonight.  It was close all game long.  It ended up going into double overtime.  I guess in double overtime they decided to make it sudden death - so no time clock, just the first team to score wins.  Brandon's team did not win the tip, so they hurried back to play defense.  As the other team's point guard was dribbling up top, Brandon's teammate stole the ball.  They all hustled down on the fast break.  The shot went up but rolled out.  Brandon kept running down and grabbed the rebound.  He was right in front of the basket.  As he went up to shoot, a defender came flying out behind him to try to stop him.  Brandon got fouled hard, but was still able to get the shot off - and he made it!!!  Their team won!  Brandon did great.  His team scored 36 points, and Brandon had 18 of those.

He has really improved over the last 2 years.  He'll be sad the season is over, but it ended on a high note.  Great job, buddy!

Battle of the Books

Brandon had Battle of the Books at the district level today.  He and his team had a good time.  They did well.  They took ninth place out of 22 teams.  They gave them all a bag of goodies.  There was a coupon for a free meal at Cafe Rio.  After the competition, the boys all wanted to go to Cafe Rio, so we took them.  They had a great time.

Scrap Codes

Tonight I went with Grant to work and helped put together 2,100 packets of scrap codes. They will be selling them at the scrapbooking convention in Sandy this weekend.  If you go, their booth is number 207. If you don't know what scrap codes are, then go to their website, Scrap Codes.  Big Buddha will interview them in the morning on the news.

Happy St. Patrick's Day

Yesterday the younger kids spent a good part of the day building a leprechaun trap.  They left cheetos in it for bait.  They came running in at one point in the day because some of the cheetos were gone.  They had just missed him, so they readjusted their trap.  They were disappointed this morning when they checked their trap and there was no leprechaun.  All they found was a shamrock shaped note that said, Nice try!  Later today they checked their trap again and found another note.  This one led them on a scavenger hunt.  This is what they found at the end...

They were all so excited!

Bike Ride

Tonight we rode our bikes to Maceys.  We were going to ride there and get ice cream cones, but we didn't go until about 6:45 and it was a little chilly.  We bought treats instead and got a redbox movie.  The kids did a great job, we all had fun!  Here are our bikes all lined up outside Maceys.  I stayed out with the bikes while Grant took them in for treats.  We didn't have enough locks to lock them all up.

Some of the kids were pretty tired when we got home.

Congratulations Brandon!

We're not sure if he is going to do it or not, but he got accepted.  There is a meeting next Thursday to find out more info.  We have to decide by March 25th.

Still Sick

Daniela woke up feeling just fine today.  I was thinking that meant that we were all better now, but Brandon came home not feeling well.  He has a fever of 101.8, he feels dizzy, light headed, headache, and a sore throat.  He felt a little nauseous, but that has past.  I guess that I will have him home with me tomorrow.

Sick Kids

Krista and Alex have both been sick lately.  I'm hoping that no one else gets it.  I guess that I'll know by tomorrow.  Daniela went to bed saying that her stomach hurts.  I hope that she wakes up okay.

Images of Greatness

Brandon did a great job tonight.  He looked great and he did a great job reciting his poem.  He ended his poem with a quote from Einstein, "Any man who can drive safely while kissing a pretty girl is simply not giving the kiss the attention it deserves."  Everyone laughed.

Albert Einstein

Brandon has his Images of Greatness program tomorrow night.  Brandon picked Albert Einstein.  Here is what he'll be wearing (posing as one of his popular faces):

And here's another face from Einstein - Brandon's favorite:

Random Pictures

Daniela was Baptista in the play, The Taming of the Shrew.  Her class performed it at school.

Alex and I went on a bike ride.  We put my helmet on the ape, he got in, and we took a picture.

Alex on the red carpet.  If the kids met their reading goals at school, they got to ride the bus to the high school, watch a movie, and eat lunch.  All the kids got to go, this picture happened to be in the paper.

KenKen

Dad, I found a new game for you to play.  It looks like they even have an iPad app.  I think that you will like it.  It is kind of like Sudoku.  Just go to kenken.com and try it.  You'll have to let me know what you think!

Sharing Time

It is my month to do Sharing Time.  Our topic for the month is Jesus Christ is Our Savior. Today's lesson was about how Jesus is an example for us.  I don't look forward to my month of teaching.  It takes time to prepare the lessons each week and I still get nervous doing it.  Sometimes I feel like I can't ever time it just right.  It is hard, but I really love being in Primary.  I love getting to know the kids, teaching them, and learning the songs.  It feels great after some Sharing Times when I feel like I really connect with the kids and I feel like they have felt the Spirit and have learned something.  I need to prepare better each week, so that I can come away with this feeling each time!

Happy Birthday, Dr. Seuss!

For his birthday, we went to the Jr. High performance of Seussical the Musical.  We took the kids and we all enjoyed the play.  Three girls in our ward were in the play and one other helped to direct it.  They did a great job.  Here are a couple of photos I found online..

Also, I have to include this list of lessons to be learned from Dr. Seuss.
