Bloody Noses

We don't get many bloody noses around here.  Ethan will get one every now and then, not for any reason in particular, it will just start to bleed.  Anyway, tonight within an hour or so, we had two kids get bloody noses.  Ethan and Alex both bent down to get a ball at the same time.  Alex fell and hit his nose or hit his nose on Ethan, he came upstairs crying with a bloody nose.  About an hour later, Krista and Alex were playing with balls downstairs, she ran to touch the wall and ran into it instead.  I heard her crying, Grant went down to check on her and came back up and said she had a bloody nose.  Kind of crazy.  I've got to get these kids in bed before someone else gets hurt!

Random Pictures

Here are some random pictures since I have not been posting everyday...

Alex decided to sleep in 10 shirts and 5 pairs of pants one night.  I don't know why.

Alex and Krista got these hats from their amigos next door for Christmas.  They love them and they are perfect when they sing their buttercup song.

I had to post a picture of all the snow!  (Of course, Sarah is probably thinking this is nothing, but we got most of this in three days!  It's a lot for here.)

Cute boy!

Merry Christmas

We had a great Christmas.  Everyone was happy.  Grant took today off, so we played with some things that we got for Christmas.  Grant took the kids and some cousins over to the church to play basketball.  All of the kids got their own basketballs for Christmas.  They had a great time.  When they got home we played some of the games that we got for Christmas.  We played Quelf Jr, Castle Panic, and Forbidden Island.  We liked them all.  Castle Panic and Forbidden Island are both cooperative games.  They were fun, ones we will definitely play again.  We got a lot of snow today.  We probably got 8-10 inches.  On the news, they said that we may get 2-4 more inches.  Looks like we'll have more shoveling to do tomorrow!

Day Off

Grant took the day off and we finished our Christmas shopping!  I am excited to have it done!  Now, it's time to wrap, wrap, wrap.  I really don't mind the wrapping.  I just need to find a good movie and the wrapping is done before you know it.  I can't believe we only have a week until Christmas!

Miss Kris Kringle

The kids worked hard today and got the house cleaned up.  We went over to the church to play some basketball and while we were gone Miss Kris Kringle came!

The candy was thrown all over the floor.  I didn't think to take a picture until the candy had all been counted, divided, and traded.  Also, this morning Snowbob left a note for the kids...

I don't know how they didn't feel it, but Snowbob gave them all very shiny noses.

Funny Boy

Alex is always asking questions like, "Would you rather this or this?"  He's asked these questions for a while, then he stumped me on one.  He asked, "Would you rather go to jail or get hurt?"  Now it kind of depends on how long you'll be in jail or how bad you get hurt...but anyway, he asked us one yesterday and it just made us laugh.  He is a funny boy.  Grant met me at the school to see Daniela's play.  After it was over, Alex didn't want Grant to go back to work.  He asked Grant, "Would you rather make your son happy or lose your job?"

A Christmas Carol

We saw the play A Christmas Carol two times yesterday.  The first time Daniela's class performed it at her school.  Daniela played Ebeneezer Scrooge and she did a great job.  She had a lot of lines to memorize and she did it!  She has been practicing a lot and she remembered them all.  I don't know how many times they performed it this week, maybe ten.  It was a fun play, it was fun to watch Daniela, she really was great!

We also saw the play over at the Hale Center Theater.  They perform it every year.  We took Brandon and Daniela.  We really enjoyed it.  I have to add a picture of Snowbob.  He left a little message for the kids.

Starting the Day Early

This morning we all got up at 6:00 am and went over to the church and played basketball for an hour.  Grant had the kids doing different drills and practicing free throws.  They had a blast!

Daniela made this gingerbread house at school today.

Brandon got this award from school for doing 100 multiplication problems in 2 minutes and 21 seconds.

Cuties

Just waiting around for tithing settlement...

He Drank my Soda

The kids just laughed when they found Snowbob this morning.

Alex had not finished his soda the night before.  Krista was just glad that he did not take hers.  Well, when we got home from church, we found this...

He had finished Alex's drink and had Krista's.  They all just laughed and laughed, they thought it was so funny!

December 8, 2012

Alex went to bed crying tonight for some Sweettart jelly beans.  I didn't give him any because it was right before bed and he had already brushed his teeth.  Well when he woke up in the morning he was sure happy and surprised.

Ward Christmas Party

We had a fun night at the Ward Christmas Party.  Santa came at the very end.  A friend of mine took a picture of Alex on Santa.  That boy is a cutie!

He told Santa that he wanted a Google Nexus 7 and money.  Krista wants a her two front teeth and a puppy and Ethan wants a blue scooter.

More Snowbob

I told the kids that they could not play any Wii today.  Snowbob must have heard us because this is how we found him this morning.

Pack Meeting

Tonight at Pack Meeting the kids made gingerbread houses.  Ethan really enjoyed it.  Also, today I took Brandon to the doctor for a gross wart. They burned it off, hopefully it really goes away.

2009 Dime

Becca mentioned today needing a 2009 dime.  I was thinking...I've got a lot of change, I'm sure I could find a 2009 dime quickly.  About 500 dimes later and who knows how much wasted time, no 2009 dime.  About halfway through, I thought I would look for a 2009 nickel instead.  I never found one of those either.  Becca looked it up online, I guess they did halt the 2009 dime and nickel production for some reason.  If you find one, you may want to hang onto it.  It might be worth something someday.

Kids and Christmas

I showed this as part of my Sharing Time lesson today in Primary.  I think that it is really cute.  I challenged the kids to think of a present that they can give to Jesus this Christmas.  I'd like to talk to my kids, maybe in Family Home Evening, and have us all pick a goal to try to better ourselves or to help others as a present for Jesus.  I really love these Mormon Messages.  Our kids love to watch them.  Sometimes we watch one at night before saying our family prayer.

Relief Society Dinner

Tonight I went to the Relief Society Christmas dinner.  Grant got to come too because the bishopric was invited.  It was fun to have him there.  Everyone brought different types of finger foods to share.  That was our dinner.  We also had desserts.  I took a platter with some Angel Food cookies and some Chocolates Crinkles.  These are two of my favorites.  We ate dinner and then shared different Christmas traditions we have in our families.  We even sang some Christmas songs.  It was fun and it was good to get to know some of the sisters in the ward better.

Two Priesthood Holders

We now have two priesthood holders in our home.  Brandon was ordained a deacon today.  Next week he will be able to pass the sacrament for the first time.  We are very proud of him!

November 24

We saw this movie today.  The kids loved it!

November 23

Happy Birthday, Brandon!

I can't believe that he is 12 years old!  He had basketball practice today.  He loves basketball!  We were going to take him out to lunch, but he was not feeling the best, so we'll go tomorrow.  He did not want many presents, just money.  He is saving for a Google Nexus 7.  We had family come over tonight to play games.  Brandon loved having his cousins over.  He had a fun day!

November 22

Happy Thanksgiving!

We had a nice, relaxing day.  It was just us for Thanksgiving this year.  We went out to eat at Prestwich Farms.  We got right in, it was not very busy.  The food was good and the kids enjoyed all the scones and honey butter that they wanted.  We enjoyed spending the day together.  We put a couple of puzzles together, we watched a little football, and just relaxed.  We are thankful for each other, for friends and family, for the gospel, and for our Savior.

Thank You

This is a cute note that Krista brought home from school.  The left side was a note for me and the right side for Grant.

Happy Halloween!

A couple of days ago we did take pictures of the kids in their Halloween costumes.

First Full Day

Today was my first full day being in the bishopric.  I had to stay for tithing settlement, so I didn't get home until 7:00 tonight.  It was long, but still pretty good.

The weirdest part was sitting on the stand.  Before whenever I sat on the stand I was always nervous because I only sat up there to give a talk.  Today was the first time I sat there and felt complete calm.  The worst part is not being able to see the speakers' faces.  It does make it harder to pay attention to what they're saying when all you see is their backside. :)

Turkey Report

Brandon finished his book report today.  He had to make a 3D turkey and then write the info for the report on the turkey feathers.  Here is the final product...

The Third Wheel

My kids really like the Diary of a Whimpy Kid books.  On Tuesday, the seventh book came out.

We were at Sam's Club today and saw it.  Alex was so excited!  He's in the cart reading it while we shop.

Thanksgiving Break

I am really looking forward to Thanksgiving break.  The kids have three days off from school, Grant will have Thanksgiving day off of course, but he will also take the next day off as well.  We will NOT be getting up early, we will NOT be doing any shopping, just relaxing and spending time together.  We are going out to eat on Thanksgiving day, just our little family.  We'll spend time doing puzzles, going to the church to play basketball, watching some football, playing games...I can't wait!

Beauty and the Beast

Tonight we went to see Beauty and the Beast.  It was over at the Junior High.  The two girls on the left are both in our ward.  It was fun to see them, they did a great job.  The whole play was very nicely done.  Grant and I took Daniela, she loved it!

My Forever

Lately I have been thinking about Heavenly Father's plan. He sent us here to be tested and to learn to be happy. Our time here on earth won't always be easy. If we think about our time here upon this earth compared to eternity, our earth life is not long. The choices we make now determine how we will live forever. I want to live my life so that Heavenly Father knows that I love Him. I want to give my heart to Him. I want to live with Him forever. I also want to live my life so that my family knows that I love them, that I want to be with them forever. Life isn't easy, but Heavenly Father has given us many things to help us along our way. He gave us: our families, a prophet to lead and guide us, the scriptures, the opportunity to come to church each week, friends who lift us up, repentance, the Holy Ghost and our Savior. I try to make the choice each day to be good, to do good, to serve my Heavenly Father and my family and to be happy. Each day I try to remember...How I live today affects my forever.

November 10

Congratulations Jessica and Alex! It was a fun day going to the Salt Lake temple for their sealing and then to the reception later.

More snow!

November 9

SNOWY DAY!!!

This was still early in the day...

We ended up getting just over 4 inches.

The kids were out for an hour or two shoveling.  They did our house and two neighbors.  Then they did the sidewalks and one other driveway on our whole street.  They even crossed the street and did another neighbor's.  They were excited to serve.  They were excited to surprise people and to make them happy.

November 8

Today I went to an Egyptian funeral for mummified chickens.  They mummified chickens in Brandon's class.  The kids in Brandon's class acted out the parts.  Brandon was one of two oxen.  They had to bring something to pull all of the mummified chickens to the burial spot.  Here he is on the right.  He took a toboggan to school to use to pull the chickens.

Here they are pulling.

They will dig up the chickens in the spring to see how well the chickens are preserved.
